Hey WBStudents!
Hopefully you are all staying safe and healthy right now! Today I wanted to send a little encouragement everyone’s way! I know that in our world right now everything can seem a little overwhelming. Global pandemic, online everything, quarantine, but in all of this change, confusion, and sickness, God has a plan.
James 1:2-3 says, “Count it all joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”. Easier said than done, I know. But God has a purpose for this, and what better time than the present to tune into who He is and learn the depth of His intent?
James 1:12 continues in saying, “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.”. There is a great divide in our world today of people who “know of God”, and people who truly have a relationship with Him. As a believer you are called on a daily basis to be a vessel of the Lord. We have also been called to be steadfast in His calling for us.
Steadfastness is hard in a world of uncertainty, but regardless of the uncertainty, Christ is moving in the midst. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted in the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!”. In this time of a pandemic, be still, rest in who our God is. Exalt Him in the little joys, and in the big things. Also, be serious about spending time with Christ, and understanding more of who He is. Use this quarantine as an opportunity for you to be alone with God, and have hardly any distractions.
This season is not meant to go to waste, and whether the world crumbles, or health is 100% restored, God is a fortress and He will prevail over His people. You may fear what comes next, and we don’t know the answer to that. Find peace in the knowledge that our God is stronger than this, and He has it in control. No matter what happens, or how this goes, He knew it from the start. Our God will not lead His people astray, lean into Him through this.
I’m sure many of you may have some extra time on your hands, use it and go read through James chapter 1, or the whole book if you’re feeling up to it. Choose Christ for at least those 5-10 minutes today and see how he speaks to you.
Pray for your world, and lean in to your God! He is a mighty fortress!
